French Document Fabric

I am making a simple 16" x 16" pillow with French document fabric. Now that I have the time, I ordered the fabric from Ballard Designs. My kitchen needs a little character so I'll do a little French theme also. The fabric is 54" wide, I ordered 1 yard, it should be enough to do a pillow, a valance and a table runner, maybe... Ballard D. has so many ideas, beautiful furniture and decor for your home. Spendy $$$$ for my pocketbook. But there are a few things that you can purchase and make your own knock off.  Another theme they have are 'The Birds and the Bees'.  Check it out HERE. I love queen bees, honey comb, honey.

They are so industrious.
Check Etsy for downloads of bees, queen bees, iron on transfer images. There are so many talented people out there!

  1. I saw this fabric in Ballard's catalog and fell in love! I have been planning on ordering it for pillows and just have not got around to it. Seeing it here has given me the push to go ahead and order.

  12. Ohhhh, what COOL fabric!!!! Love Ballard Designs but they are out of my budget. Thank you for the great inspiration for my GS sale find!! There are screws that are holding that candle holder but they are rusted. I'll have to dig through hubby's toolbox and see what I can find!

  13. I'm a big fan of Ballard's, too, Linda! Love the idea of ordering the fabric from them and making your own stuff. I always forget they have the fabric available. {I wonder if you could find similar/cheaper at fabric.com or warehouse fabrics}. I usually check out their Estate Sale section first.

  15. Linda, I would love to see what you created with the fabric. I too love birds and bees. I actaully want to get one ore two of the needle point pillows and the black rug with the gold bumblbees for my kitchen. I have a sublte bee theme going on. I may have to settle for a runner or small rug to go in front of the kitchen sink. You are so right. They are so expensive, but their stuff is so pretty.
