Beautiful, Crisp, White Linen...

Something I love in each of my bathrooms are crisp white linen towels, not for everday use but when guests come to visit. Another favorite are white linen hankies. Visit HERE, for some of the webs most gorgeous vintage hankies, white linen hankies for weddings and table linens for personal use. White Linen is so much feminine as well as it's beauty and lasting qualities. An easy and inexpensive way to clean and freshen, get a large glass bowl, fill with 6 quarts warm water, add 1/4 c. 20 Mule Team Borax, let it dissolve, add 4-6 handkies, and 4 white linen placemats, swish and let soak 15 minutes, thoroughly rinse, don't wring, hang in sun to dry, iron and you have fresh white linen hankies and placemats, just an old way of getting out some stains. I haven't tried this one but read Marydon's post on cleansing linens http://blushingroseboutique.blogspot.com/2009/07/forget-oxy-biz-for-linens.html Coming from someone with her expertise it is sure to be a winner!

  1. If you read my post of a couple days ago you will find the best linen soak of all times. We have used it for years on our vintage linens & vintage feedsacks & in one soak it will remove 88% at least of all dirties & stains ... occasionally, you may have to soak longer but not very often. Pop over & read about it.

I, too, prefer white linens over colored. TTFN~Marydon

  5. I have a great fondness for white linens, especially any that have been embellished with handwork...be it an accomplished needlewoman or someone who is all thumbs. There is something so pleasant, so personal about the art of embellishment that appeals to me. Sea Witch
